Namitha became popular after acting in the Tamil film Engal Anna with Vijayakanth. After being crowned Miss Surat in 1998, she participated in the Miss India contest in 2001. she also won people's favourite award to win miss india world title.It brought Namitha roles in the Telugu film industry. After entering Tollywood, she immediately grabbed the attention of Telugu film lovers with Sontham and acted in Gemini as Bhairavi though the films didn’t fare well in the box office.
